Dr. Nirmala Menon’s primary area of research is Postcolonial Literature and Theory. Her focus is on comparative study of twentieth century postcolonial literatures in English, Hindi and other languages. Gender studies, Globalization and Translation studies are additional areas of research. Her research interests are multilingual but also interdisciplinary; she investigates cultural, gender and historical representations in colonial and postcolonial works. Her work examines the ways in which literatures from different non-Western languages influence and redefine and reframe understanding of postcolonial theoretical concepts.
Dr. Menon has published her work in international journals and presented at national and international conferences.
