Anti Microbial Property of partially reduced Graphene Oxide
In the present study partially reduced Graphene Oxide- Silver Nanocomposite (rGO-Ag NC) was synthesized and its antimicrobial property is studied. Nanoparticles (NPs) of Silver (Ag) were deposited on partially reduced graphene oxide (rGO) to form rGO-Ag NC in a facile synthesis method through chemical approach. Results indicate growth inhibition of microbes grown under open environment at ambient conditions in Agar medium. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy characterizations confirmed the formation of good quality GO flakes. Field Emission Scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), as well as High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) images represent highly exfoliated GO layers with Silver Nanoparticles embedded on rGO flakes indicating the formation of rGO-Ag Nanocomposite.
